I had the chance to email back and forth with the founder of Food Truck Empire, Brett Lindenberg. Brett is 31-years old and lives is St. Paul, Minnesota. Brett runs the company, Food Truck Empire. He is partnered with FoodStart.com. FoodStart.com helps fund the food truck owners that listen in to Brett's podcasts. Food Truck Empire helps food truck entrepreneurs when starting their business, and it also gives tips to food truck owners on how to improve their businesses. Brett started the blog in July of 2013 out of his love for business podcasts and food trucks. He wanted something similar to the business podcasts that he watches, but he had no idea what the topic should be. He then decided that it would be awesome to combine his two loves. Now Food Truck Empire assists many food truck entrepreneurs all across the country.
Brett does weekly interviews with successful food truck owners who can give tips to those who are starting their food truck business. He also interviews experts in the topic he is covering that week. Brett says that he tries to focus the his podcasts on tips to help entrepreneurs. Brett gave a a great example of one of his interviews with food truck consultant, Stephanie Ganz. Stephanie gave food truck owners tips on how to get a signature dish into wholesale to sell in super markets. Brett told me, "I love these kinds of interviews that give entrepreneurs new ideas on where they can drive their food truck business!" When you check out his website you can listen to podcasts to help you start your own food truck business or to expand and grow your current one.
In the future, Brett wants to help other food truck owners as they campaign to get their own truck, or if they need funding to improve it. He says that because it takes so much money to get a business started, he wants to help the entrepreneurs out by donating a little to their funds. In the past few months he has started donating 20-50 dollars a month to a food truck funding campaign. He features the truck that he donates to in his podcasts. He says that he wants to encourage others to donate to these campaigns. He wants to let everyone know about them and where to donate. Both Brett and I have donated to the Tikka Tikka Taco Truck fund, runner-up of season four of The Great Food Truck Race, through Indiegogo, a fundraising site for entrepreneurs. Brett hopes to be able to donate more money to trucks in the future. He has come up with the idea of joining with a couple bloggers who will donate to the same truck that he is donating to each month. That way, it will make an even bigger impact on the food truck. Brett also tells me that at some point in the future he would like to open a food truck of his own. He hopes that the food truck owners that he has helped will help him achieve his goal.
